Given that the shape of the roof of the ski cabin describes an isosceles triangle with a base side lenght of 14 ft and a height of 8 ft.

To find the angle that the roof makes with the horizontal, we notice that half of the base length forms a right triangle with the height of the roof and one of the steep sides of the roof.

Thus the tangent of the angle that the roof makes with the horizontal is given by

tan(\theta)= (opposite \ angle)/(adjacent \ angle) = (8)/(7) \\ Therefore, \theta=\arctan{ ((8)/(7)) }=48.8^o
