(20*16 ft^2)(144 in^2/ft^2)(tiles/(10*10 in^2)

320ft^2(144in^2/ft^2)(tiles/100in^2)=460.8 tiles

However tiles are quantized integer units so 461 tiles will be needed to tile the kitchen.

Answer:

461 tiles (Approx) vinyl tiles are used in kichen tile .

Explanation:

Formula

Area of a rectangle = Length × Breadth

As given

A tile kitchen measuring 20 ft. by 16 ft.

Here Length = 20 ft

Breadth = 16 ft

Put in the formula

Area of a kitchen tile = 20 × 16

= 320 ft²

As 1foot = 12 inches

Thus

Convert 320 ft² into inches² .

320 ft² = 320 × 12 × 12 inches²

= 46080 inches²

As given

The number of vinyl tiles, measuring 10 in.

Area of a square = a²

Where a is the side of a square .

Thus

Area of a vinyl tiles = 10 × 10

= 100 inches²

Let us assume that the number of vinyl tiles be x.

Than

x × Area of a vinyl tiles = Area of a kitchen tile

Put in the formula

x × 100 = 46080

x = (46080)/(100)

x = 460.8 tiles

x = 461 (Approx) tiles

Therefore 461 tiles (Approx) vinyl tiles are used in kichen tile .
