Answer:

tan is y/x so 3/5 and negatives cancel out

you can also find which quadrant the point is in and then determine if tan is pos or negative there - smarter choice!!

the side opposite the angle will be of length -3 ( y coordinate) and adjacent is -5 ( x coordinate)so

tan = opp/adj = -3/-5 = 3/5
