The ideas and beliefs of cultural superiority allowed for the development of Imperialism to grow. Many European nations were growing nationalism after the Napoleonic Era. Nationalism is patriotic support of one's country. An example of cultural superiority is the "White Man's Burden" which tried to justify why Europeans must colonize other underdeveloped nations. The policy of Imperialism is profit and expansion through colonization. Also, some movements like the Industrial Revolution called out for natural resources from colonies. This created more of an urge to expand the territory of a nation in order to collect these natural and raw resources.
