First, we have to convert meters to inches.
The ratio is:
1 inch:0.0254 meters
Let's multiply!
40 inches equal 1.016 meters, that's greater than 1 meter.

40 Inches is greater due to a meter having 39.37 inches and if you round to the nearest inch one would round down not up. Hope that helps^^
