When you make the 6 x 6 table to show all of the combinations of rolling two six-sided die, the sums of eight will be:
2 + 6, 3 + 5, 4 + 4, 5 + 3, 6 + 2
Since we are not counting the 3 + 5 and 5 + 3 are two different combinations, there are 3 possibilities in the sample space.
