The Sun hits a 30 foot flagpole at a 60° angle and casts an unobstructed 52 foot shadow. If a building is built 32 feet away, what height will the shadow strike the side of the building? (round to nearest tenth)

Answer: Height of building = 11.5 feet.

Step-by-step explanation:

Since we have given that

Height of flagpole = 30 foot

Length of shadow of flagpole = 52 foot

According to question, if a building is built 32 feet away,

Length of shadow of building will be

52-32=20\ foot

Let height of building be h.

Now, we know that there is direct variation, so it becomes

(30)/(52)=(h)/(20)\\\\30* 20=52* h\\\\(600)/(32)=h\\\\h=11.5\ feet

Hence, height of building = 11.5 feet.
