Hello.

The direct result of Matthew Perry's naval expedition was to re-establish regular trade between Japan and the United States.

On 1853, Matthew Perry commanded an expedition to Japan. Perry is best known for opening Japan to the western world since during his journey, he managed to establish diplomatic relationships and make trade agreements ending with the Japanese policy of isolation.

Hope this helps.
