Typically with severe burns, such as a third degree burn, nerve ending will have been burned to the point where they will actually die. A person will not experience feeling when the nerves are no longer alive. Shock may also come into play when talking about severe injuries such as burns. Shock will often times offset the ability to feel pain. Hope this helped!
