18 - Paul: 8 candies
Kid #1: 5 candies
Kid #2: 5 candies
Kid #3: 5 candies

8+5+5+5
8+10+5
8+15
23

Paul had 23 pieces of candy to start with

20 - ?/(1/2) + $6 = $14

?/(1/2) + $6 = $14
$14 - $6 = $8
$8 x 2 = $16
$16/(1/2) + $6 = $14

Jill's weekly allowance is $16.00

Your answer is: Paul-23 candies ; Jill- $16.00

Have an amazing day!

If each of his three children got 5 pieces that means 5 x 3 = 15
Then add the 8 he took for himself
15+8= 23
