Step 1 - Understanding the relation between concentration and colour
The colour of a solution is a consequence of the solutes therein dissolved. The greater the concentration of the solute, the brighter the colour.
Let's take a grape juice as example: it usually starts deep purple. But if we start to add water, we'll see its colour gets pale and pale.
Step 2 - Choosing the correct alternative
If you were to prepare a bright red solution, but you ended up with a pale red solution, it means you just put too much solvent (water). Therefore, your solution is dilute (which means there is little solute and a lot of solvent).
The correct alternative is thus item d) dilute.
