The school cafeteria sells two kinds of wraps: vegetarian and chicken. The vegetarian wrap costs $1.00 and the chicken wrap costs $1.80. Today they made $98.80 from the 70 wraps sold. How many of the wraps sold were vegetarian?

x=number of veggie wraps
y=number of chicken wraps

x+y=70
$1x+$1.80y=$98.80 (I'm going to drop the $ while I work)

y=70-x
substitute that into the other equation and solve for x
x+1.8(70-x)=98.8
x+126-1.8x=98.8
-.8x=-27.2
x=34 veggie wraps

y=70-34
y=36 chicken wraps

So your answer is 34 veggie wraps.

Hope that helps.
