Treat them like fractions. Ratios are just fractions in a different form.
You can simplify 6/18. Find common factors. 2, 3, 6
Let's try and divide the top and bottom (numerator and denominator) by 3.
Then you get 2/6.
2/6 is equivalent to 2/6

yes because 6/18=1/3 and 2/6=1/3. Then 6/18=2/6
