n in 5n + 5 = 45 is 8 because you'd subtract 5 from 45 and get 40, then divide 40 by 5 and get 8.

Get the variable on one side and the numbers on the opposite.
5n + 5 = 45
Subtract 5 from each side of the equation.
5n = 40
And divide both sides by 5.
n = 8
So, n will equal to 8.
