A rolling ball has kinetic energy.
A moving car has kinetic energy.
A spinning top has kinetic energy.
A falling tree has kinetic energy.
All of these things have kinetic energy because they are in motion. Objects in motion have kinetic energy. How fast the object is moving determines the amount of kinetic energy in the object.
Obviously the book on the table isn't moving, so therefore it doesn't any kinetic energy.
