I'm assuming the 5x should be a 5y.

4x - 2y = 16
4x - 5y = 8

I would use the elimination method since the coefficients on the x variable are the same.
Subtract the second equation from the first equation.
4x - 2y = 16
-(4x -5y = 8)
-------------------
3y = 8
y = 8/3
Plug */3 back in for y and solve for x.
4x -2y = 16
4x -2(8/3) = 16
4x - (16/3) = 16
add (16/3) to both sides.
4x = (16/3) + (48/3)
4x = (64/3)
multiply both sides by (1/4) to clear the 4
x = (64/3)(1/4)
x = 16/3
(16/3, 8/3)
