Volume of the larger block = 15x5x7 = 525 mm³
In the smaller block, to be able to calculate the volume we need to know its lateral base or length: Length = 15 - 3 - 3 = 9mm
Then its volume is 9x5x3=135 mm³
TOTAL VOLUME = 525+135 =660 mm³

Lets divide this prism into two parts. The bottom part has dimensions of 15mm length x 5mm width x 7mm height.
The bottom is 15x5x7 = 525 cubic mm.
The top part has dimensions of 9mm length (I got this by subtracting the 3mm on each side that the top is shorter than the bottom.. 15-3x2) x 5mm width x 3mm height.
The top is 9x5x3 = 135 cubic mm.
Added together ... 525 + 135 = 660 cubic mm = the total area of the prism.
Hope this helps
