Answer:

$1787.50

Explanation:

Student's gross income = $8125.00

federal tax rate = 10% of 8125.00

= 0.10 × 8125 = $812.50

State tax rate = 4.35% of 8125.00

= 0.0435 × 8125 = $353.4375

As we know FICA is comprised tax for social security (6.2%) and medicare (1.45%)

Let us calculate FICA tax 7.65% (6.2% + 1.45%) of 8125.00

= 0.0765 × 8125 = $621.5625

Now we calculate total federal tax, state tax and FICA tax

= 812.50 + 353.4375 + 621.5625 = $1787.50

The amount withheld from her income was $1787.50.
