If the temperature started at -5 and decreased another 2 it would be at -7, it it decreased another 1 degree after that morning it would be at -8 degrees Celsius

if the temp. was -5C on Wednesday, and Thursday morning was 2 degrees lower than Wednesday, then Thursday morning it was -7C.

if Thursday evening's weather was 1 degree lower than the morning, then Thursday evening's weather was -8C.

-5 - 2 = -7
-7 - 1 = -8
