I believe your answer is B. Technology we have today wasn't available  100 years ago, and therefore studies and theories would also be different back then compared to the studies and theories we have today.

For instance Sir JJ Thompson used the cathode ray tube in which he introduced electron rays in a vacuum tube while Rutherford used alpha particles and made them shot gold foil plates . Thus, Thompson was able to detect the electron while Rutherford detected the nucleus with in an atom.

Since these two scientist used two different experimental process it can be said that option B is correct.
