Due tension between the colonist and the Powhatan, thus led to the English colonists retaliating against the Powhatan and violent war.

Initially the Powhatan were only weary of the Colonists but as times grew harder for Colonists the english settlers began to raid the Powhatan food supplies and this created tensions between the groups. This led to many wars and casualties on both ends eventually ending when the Powhatan chief accepted peace with the English and his daughter (Pocahontas) was married to John Rolfe. (She died 3 years later of disease)
