If x is the orginal price of the suit, then, you can write the following equation:

x-(24)/(100)x=741

which means that is you subtract the 24% of the original price (24/100 * x) to the original price (x) you obtain 741.

By solving for x, you obtain:

\begin{gathered} x-0.24x=741 \\ 0.76x=741 \\ x=(741)/(0.76) \\ x=975 \end{gathered}

Hence, the original price of the suit was $975
