Lamar will rent a car for the weekend. He can choose one of two plans. The first plan has an initial fee of $63.96 and costs an additional $0.12 per mile driven. The second plan has an initial fee of $49.96 and costs an additional $0.14 per mile driven. How many miles would Lamar need to drive for the two plans to cost the same?

Assume x is the distance and y the cost.
First plan:
y = 63.96 + 0.12x
Second plan:
y = 49.96 + 0.14x
Find the distance x when the cost is same.

63.96 + 0.12x = 49.96 + 0.14x
0.14x - 0.12x = 63.96 - 49.96
0.02x = 14
x= 14/0.02
x = 700 miles

Good luck
