The constitution was a result of compromises. The founding fathers would argue for hours on end to come up with the best solution for they're new government. Sometimes compromise was needed.

The correct answer is compromises.

The development of the US Constitution took place at the Constitutional Convention in 1787. This debate over how to fix the American government resulted in several compromises. Here are a few examples:

1) Connecticut (Great) Compromise- This compromise helped to determine representation in Congress. This resulted in the combination of elements from the Virginia Plan and New Jersey Plan. The Connecticut Compromise resulted in each state having two Senators, regardless of size. This was an idea taken from the New Jersey Plan. Along with this, the Connecticut Compromise also called for the number of representatives in the House of Representatives to be based on population. This was taken from the Virginia plan.

2) Implementation of a new constitution- During the Constitutional Convention, many anti-federalists wanted to simply change (amend) the Articles of Confederation. On the other hand, many federalists wanted to create a completely new government. The anti-federalists agreed to a new constitution but only if the new constitution contained a bill of rights. This was agreed upon, resulting in a new constitution with a bill of rights.
