Another method:

Prove:
cos(2a) - cos(6a) = 2sin(4a)sin(2a), since
cos(2a) - cos(6a) \\eq sin(4a)sin(8a)


LHS = cos(2a) - cos(6a)

= cos(4a - 2a) - cos(4a + 2a)

= cos(4a) cos(2a) + sin(4a) sin(2a) - [cos(4a) cos(2a) - sin(4a) sin(2a)]

= cos(4a) cos(2a) + sin(4a) sin(2a) - cos(4a) cos(2a) + sin(4a) sin(2a)

= 2sin(4a)sin(2a)

by identity : cosx-cosy = 2sin((x+y)/2) sin((y-x)/2)
let : 2a=x and y = 6a
cos2a-cos6a = 2sin((2a+6a)/2) sin((6a-2a)/2)
cos2a-cos6a =2sin4a sin2a
