the length of an arc in a circle is radius x the angle (Ф).
Mind you angle Ф should be in radian.
1st let's convert 40° into radian
40/180 = x/π===> x=(π x 40)/180 ==> x = 2π/9 = 0.698 radian
so the arc length = 0.698 x 8 =5.585
