A clocks minute hand makes one revolution (360 degrees) for every hour. That means we can find the area as normal using the formula:


\pi r^2, where r is the radius.

pi*14^2
=pi*196
=196pi

Ah so the length of the minute hand is the radius.

Given that the raduis is 14mm, the area of the watch face can be found with A=
\pi r^2

Therefore
A=
\pi r^2
A=
\pi 14^2
A=
196 \pi

The watch face has an area of
196 \pi
