Train A: d = 40t + 400
Train B: d = 80t + 200
If you do a subtraction, you get it in terms of t only: 0 = -40t +200
Which allows you to sold for t:
40t = 200
t = 5 hours
And from there you solve for d = 80(5) + 200 = 600 miles
