There are two possible ways in which an atom combines with another atom. It is either by sharing their valence (or outermost) electrons or by completely transferring electrons to form ions. The sharing or transfer of electrons creates some attraction force between elements that is called as chemical bond. An atom is reactive when it easily combines with other atoms.
