George brought a shirt and a pair of pants at a clothing store. The pants cost $5.30 more than the shirt, and he used a $15 off coupon to purchase the shirt. The equation below is used to determine the cost of the shirt before coupon, s.

s- $15 = $15.92

How much did the pants cost ?

A. $30.92

B. $21.22

First, you want to get s by itself
To do this, add 15 to both sides
s=$15.92+15
s=$30.92
This would be the cost of the shirt, not the pants
To find how much the pants cost, you would have to add $5.30 to the cost of the shirt, since the pants cost $5.30 more than the shirt
s=$30.92+$5.30
s=$36.22
So the pants cost $36.22
