Alright, you're given the equation: 4x + 1 = 2y +1
to find x, you need to have it by itself on one side of the equation. To do this, we must bring all the other numbers to the other side!

Remember when you're bringing things to the other side you, you do the subtraction before the multiplication and division. Keeping that in mind, let's start.

1) bring the one over to the other side. to get rid of the one on the side of the x you must subtract it. what you do on one side of the equation, you must do to the other, that means we must subtract a one from the other side too.
So now you're left with 4x= 2y because 4x + 1 -1 = 2y + 1 -1

2) now you get rid of that 4 on attached to the x. to do that you must perform the opposite operation (division in this case). what you do on one side, you must do to the other so: 4/4x = 2/4y which leaves you with x= 1/2y (so the answer is G)
