What would 2x-(8-x) be?

you are going to need to distribute the negative to the 8 and the x. (remember, a negative times a negative is a positive.) Giving you 2x(-8+x), from there, you need to distribute the 2x to the -8 and the +x. {ans: -16x+2x²}
