Answer: B) The phosphoric acid in cola helps to break down the meat.

Marinades are effective sauces when are mixed with meat before cooking in order to add flavor to the meat and in order to make it soft. The phosphates in phosphoric acids helps in maintaining the pH and buffer properties of the meat, causes emulsification of fats hence, responsible for break down of meat and making it soft.
