Let:

a = Cost of each apple

n = Number of apples

T = Total cost

so:

\begin{gathered} a\cdot n=T \\ if \\ n=6 \\ T=80 \\ so\colon \\ 6a=80 \end{gathered}

Solve for a:

\begin{gathered} a=(80)/(6) \\ a=(40)/(3) \end{gathered}

Therefore:

\begin{gathered} T=a\cdot n \\ T=(40)/(3)\cdot15 \\ T=200 \end{gathered}

Answer:

15 apples cost 200 cents

---------------------------

6------------>80

15------------>x

\begin{gathered} (6)/(15)=(80)/(x) \\ x=(15\cdot80)/(6) \\ x=(1200)/(6) \\ \end{gathered}

Using long division:
