Because every triangle has 180*,
(* = degrees, stick with me, here) 180 - 110 = 70. 70 divided by 2 = 35. Therefore, x = 35.

X in this case looks like 35 because it is the only number that will fulfill the 70 degree requirement for the second angle/the sum of 2 angles that you mentioned.
