Answer: D.) x + x + x + 2 = 10

Explanation:

Given : A 10-foot board is to be cut into 3 pieces.

Two of the pieces will be the same length and one piece will be 2 feet longer than the other two.

Let x be the length of the each of the two equal pieces .

Then, length of third piece = x+2

According to the question , we have

Combined length of pieces = 10 foot

i.e. x+x+(x+2) = 10

i.e. x+x+x+2= 10 [on removing brackets]

Hence, the equation could be used to solve for the lengths : x + x + x + 2 = 10

So , the correct option is D.
