How many solutions for y=x-1?

The graph of y=x−1 in the xy -plane is a straight line. Each point on this line represents a solution to the equation.

Let x=t where t is a real number. Then any point on the line is of the form

(x, y)=(t, t−1).

There is an infinitude of these points.
