Improvisation is when a jazz artist is composing on the spot a piece of music or when a singer or someone playing the instrument invents a melody and comes up with different melodies in the song. A Lot of the time it will be like a short solo where the musician comes up with their own music for it. Improvisation in jazz is to either fill up time, let the musicians show how talented they are or to truly express themselves.
