I think because they believed in them so much, they just trusted in whatever they said. For example if a Greek Philosopher were to say they thing a rule should be applied, the people would listen because they were the smartest people they knew!

philosophers began to make people think for themselves. Also, they gave more books to the society, along with new times of governments and accurate history.
