since we know the slope intercept form is y=mx+b and that parallel lines have the same slope we know that the slope in our equation is going to be -4
we can plug in the point (-8,5) into y= -4x+b
in doing that we get 5= -4(-8)+b.
5=-4(-8)+b
5=32+b
subtract 32 from both sides to find b the (y-intercept)
5-32=-27
b=-27
bc the slope is -4 and the y-intercept is -27 the equation of the line that's parallel to y=-4x+5 and passes through the given point (-8,5) is y=-4x-27
