How did colonial divisions in Africa lead to conflict between native African tribes

Because these colonial borders did not take into account the borders of the already existing tribes. This meant that rival tribes could be placed in the same colony.

In the second half of the 19th century, Africa was colonized and exploited by the European nations, mainly the United Kingdom, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. This period is known as neocolonialism. The imperialism applied by Europeans in Africa in the second half of the nineteenth century left wounds on the continent until the present day. In addition to exploiting natural resources, imperialism unleashed ethnic conflicts in Africa. African culture was also damaged during the process.
