The height of real table would be 24 inches and the height of scale model would be 2 centimeters.

Using the scale given:

  • 1 cm : 6 inches

A.)

Length of table in scale model = 4 centimeters

The length of real table can be calculated thus;

1 = 6

4 = x

cross multiply

x = 6 × 4

x = 24

Hence , the length of real table is 24 inches.

B.)

Height of real table = 12 inches

The height of table in scale model would be ;

1 = 6

x = 12

cross multiply

6x = 12

x = 12/6

x = 2

Hence, height of scale model would be 2 centimeters .

SOLUTION

Given the question in the image, the following are the solutions to the questions.

Question a: 4 centimeters to x inches

\begin{gathered} 1\operatorname{cm}=6\text{ in} \\ 4\operatorname{cm}=x\text{ in} \\ By\text{ cross multiplication,} \\ x*1=6*4 \\ x=24\text{ inches} \end{gathered}

Hence, the length of the real table is 24 inches.

Question b: the scale model of the real table with length of 12 inches

\begin{gathered} 1\operatorname{cm}=6\text{ in} \\ ycm=12\text{ in} \\ By\text{ cross multiplication, we have} \\ 1*12=6* y \\ 12=6y \\ y=(12)/(6) \\ y=2\operatorname{cm} \end{gathered}

Hence, the height of the table in the scale model is 2centimeters.
