Equation 1) 4x + 6y = 16
Equation 2) x + 3y = 4

Multiply all of equation two by -2 so that we could solve for x.

2) -2(x + 3y = 4)

2) -2x - 6y = -8
1) 4x + 6y = 16

Add equations together.

2x = 8

x = 4

Plug in 4 for x in the first equation.

4x + 6y = 16

4(4) + 6y = 16

16 + 6y = 16

6y = 16-16

6y = 0

y = 0

So, x = 4, y = 0

To check your work, simply plug in 4 for x and 0 for y in the first equation.

4x + 6y = 16

4(4) + 6(0) = 16

Simplify.

16 + 0 = 16

16 = 16

Therefore, x=4 and y=0

~Hope I helped!~

multiply second equation by -2:
4x+6y=16
-2x-6y=-8
combine the equations:
2x=8
x=4
Solve for y:
4(4)+6y=16
16+6y=16
6y=0
y=0

Solution: (4,0)
