Okay, first you need to know the distance...since the x coordinate does not change we can see that the distance between the two points is just y2-y1, in this case:

3--6=9 so the houses are 9 miles apart.

distance=velocity times time...

d=vt so we can say

t=d/v, we found d=9 and we are told that v=12mph so

t=9mi(h/12mi)

t=0.75 hr, but the question want the time in minutes so

0.75hr(60min/hr)=45 min

So it takes Curtis 45 minute to reach his friends house 9 miles away riding at 12 miles per hour.

Answer: 45 Minutes

Explanation:

Curtis's house: (-4,-6)

Jean's house: (-4,3)

Distance: -6 to 3 = 9 miles

Curtis travels = 12 miles per hour

speed = distance / time

12 miles/hr = 9 miles / time

12 miles/hr * time = 9 miles

time = 9 miles * 1hr/12 miles

time = 0.75 hour

1 hour = 60 minutes

60 minuts * 0.75 = 45 minutes

It would take 45 minutes for Curtis to ride from his house to Jean's house
