Black Codes were passed by many southern states immediately after the end of the Civil War. They aimed to eliminate the new-found freedoms of former slaves and keep them in a repressive state. However, after the beginning of the Reconstruction era these Codes were removed from law... for a while.

Had to look for the passage and here is my answer.
Given the passage which was from 1865, these series of rules that were established immediately right after the Civil War were known as the BLACK CODES. Hope this answer helps.
