of a line that is parallel and perpendicular to the line

You should first of all change the equation from standard form to slope intercept form. The parallel slope should turn out to be -2 and the perpendicular slope should turn out to be 1/2.

I get the slope of the parallel line to be -2 and then 1/2 for the perpendicular one
