When electrical power is carried over long distances through power lines, the electrical energy decreases as the distance increases. This energy decrease occurs because the current encounters resistance in the wires. What happens to the electrical energy as it travels through the power lines?

The answer to this would be electromagnetic induction. It is a process of which a current can be induced to flow due to a changing magnetic field!

Hope this helps you!
