The greatest of four consecutive even integers is 14 less than twice the smallest integer. What are the integer. What is the difference between a normal integer and an even integer?Please help and explain how to get the answers really do appreciate it!!!!

Explanation:

Consecutive even integers are numbers that are even and are 2 units apart.

If x is the smallest even integer then the 4 consecutive numbers are:

x, x+2, x+4, x+6

The greatest of four consecutive even integers ( x+6) is 14 less (-14) than twice the smallest integer (2x).

x+6 = 2*x -14, add 14 and subtract x from both sides

14+6 = 2x -x , combine like terms

20 = x

20, 22, 24, 26 are the integers

The difference between a normal integer 1, 2, 3, 4, 5... and an even integer 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, ... is that the normal integers are consecutive when one unit apart, and even integers are consecutive when they are two units apart.

The normal integers have odd and even numbers, while the even consecutive integers are only even numbers.
