So the problem is 4y + 1 = 13

So what you want to do is find the value or meaning of y

So to do that you have to multiply 4 until you get to 13 but you can only go as far as 4 x 3 = 12
So y = 3 but remember that you have to multiply that little y so that means you have to multiply 3 because 4y (the y = 3 and you always have to multiply that letter or number with the big number which is the 4)
So 4y(3) is 12 + 1 = 13

4y=13-1
4y=12
y=12/4
y=3 That shoud be your answer
