So, we need to subtract 17 5/12 - 14 5/8

First, let's find a common denominator.

It is 24.

Our fractions are 17 10/24 and 14 15/24.

17 10/24 - 14 15/24 = 2 19/24 <-----Answer

If you have any questions or want to know more on how to do this, message me or comment below.

Glad I could help, and good luck!

Difference is subtracting, but you need to have common denominators to do so,.

The LCD for 8 & 12 is 24. Now find equivalent fractions with a denominator of 24.

14 5/8 = 14 15/24
17 5/12 = 17 10/24

17 10/24 - 14 15/24 can't be done since the 10 is smaller. We must borrow from the 17. We will borrow 1 whole, or 24/24.

16 34/24 - 14 15/24 = 2 19/24 B
